Review: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)
Reading Level: Young Adult
Publisher: Harper Collins
First in a trilogy

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

At first I wasn't sure about this book I've read a lot of dystopian lately and I wanted a break from it but I'm am very glad I read it. In most dystopians the world has been different and messed up for a long time but I loved how in this one the world was only just beginning to change and be taken over by power hungry people.

Tahereh has a way with words. I love her writing style. This was a little hard to get used to at first but once I did I really liked it. And the characters were amazing. Juliette was so kind and strong despite her horrible situation. Adam oh Adam words can't even describe I absolutely adored him he was so sweet and hot obviously :) Warner was so creeptastic. Kenji was hilarious but I think he has a death wish or something. James was so cute and I loved his relationship with Adam.

Oh my goodness Juliette and Adam are the cutest couple ever. When I finished this I had to go back and read the cute parts again they were just that good. But I kind of had the feeling that Tahereh is setting us up for a love triangle I seriously hope not.

I don't even know how to describe this book. It was amazing and adorable and I loved every minute of it. If you haven't already read it drop everything and go read it right now. Please. I wish I owned it but sadly I have to give it back to Jasmine :(
5/5 stars :)
