Everbound by Brodi Ashton Review

Everbound (Everneath, #2)
Reading Level: Young Adult
Publisher: Balzer and Bray
Source: Bought
Second book in the Everneath series
Nikki Beckett could only watch as her boyfriend, Jack, sacrificed himself to save her, taking her place in the Tunnels of the Everneath for eternity — a debt that should’ve been hers. She’s living a borrowed life, and she doesn’t know what to do with the guilt. And every night Jack appears in her dreams, lost and confused and wasting away.
Desperate for answers, Nikki turns to Cole, the immortal bad boy who wants to make her his queen — and the one person least likely to help. But his heart has been touched by everything about Nikki, and he agrees to assist her in the only way he can: by taking her to the Everneath himself.
Nikki and Cole descend into the Everneath, only to discover that their journey will be more difficult than they’d anticipated — and more deadly. But Nikki vows to stop at nothing to save Jack — even if it means making an incredible sacrifice of her own.
In this enthralling sequel to Everneath, Brodi Ashton tests the bonds of destiny and explores the lengths we’ll go to for the ones we love.

Review
I was a little worried to read this one. I shouldn't have been but I was. It was amazing! All my doubts flew out the window and across the street. I may have even liked it better than the first. The storyline was just so fantastic. I couldn't stop reading.

This continues Nikki's story. Jack the love of her life has taken her place in the Everneath. And, she is determined to get him out. No matter what. She thinks its going to be easy but little does she know, she's in for the quest of her life.

I didn't enjoy Nikki as much this time around. She was very desperate which I totally understand but being desperate made her make rash decisions. And sometimes they back fired. She did remain strong though. I liked that she didn't give up. I really loved that we got to know Cole better. I liked him and then I didn't but I can't say much because spoilers. I do want to say one thing about Jack. That is I feel like his role in the story has now changed. How? I'm not too sure. I do want the closeness between Nikki and Jack to stick around because I really enjoy it. I want him to still play a big role in the story.

I would say this book was very exciting. I was dying to know how things would unravel. I couldn't predict the story at all. I didn't see the twists coming at all. One thing I really loved was the setting. I loved getting to see more of the Everneath. I loved all the action. I also loved all the mythology aspects. I ended up reading this in one sitting. Overall this was such a great read. It was an amazing sequel. If you haven't read this one I highly recommend. Especially if you enjoy mythology!

  1. I LOVED this book! I, like you, was nervous at first, because you never know with second books in series. I'm with ya on the Cole thing- just when I was starting to like him... well, you know. And I agree- Nikki was way desperate. But I do like that would do anything for Jack. I can't wait to see them in the 3rd book.
