Reading Level: Young Adult
Publisher: Poppy
Source: Conference
First book in the Belles series
Fifteen-year-old Isabelle Scott loves her life by the boardwalk on the supposed wrong side of the tracks in North Carolina. But when tragedy strikes, a social worker sends her to live with a long-lost uncle and his preppy privileged family. Isabelle is taken away from everything she's ever known, and, unfortunately, inserting her into the glamorous lifestyle of Emerald Cove doesn't go so well. Her cousin Mirabelle Monroe isn't thrilled to share her life with an outsider, and, in addition to dealing with all the rumors and backstabbing that lurk beneath their classmates' Southern charm, a secret is unfolding that will change both girls' lives forever.

Review
This one surprised me so much! I really enjoyed it. I can admit I wasn't so sure about it. It didn't really sound like my kinda book, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm very excited to continue the series.

This tells the story of Isabelle. She's lived a hard life she loves it. Tragedy strikes and she finds herself thrown into a whole new world very unlike what she's used too. Not only is she living the rich lifestyle she also has a new family. Things don't go as expected and she has to adjust to her new life.

I loved Isabelle. She was an amazing character. I loved how down to earth she was. I loved how hard she worked. She never gave up no matter how hard it was. Even if it wasn't how she pictured her life going she did fit in amongst the world she was placed in. I did love how she never really let go of Harbor Side. She really wanted to give back to the people who had done so much for her. I can't wait to continue Isabelle's story. Mirabelle took some getting used to along with the rest of Emerald Cove. I know Mirabelle had the potential to be an amazing character. I think she did a lot of growing throughout the book. I'm excited to learn more about her!

You know that saying "don't judge a book by its cover". I think this book really portrayed that. Imagine being thrown into a new world and having to make it work. I think this has a very unique storyline. I've never read anything like it. It took some time to her into but once I did I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the story so much I couldn't stop reading. I thought everything was well done and creative. There was so many aspects I loved. Overall I enjoyed this book so much. I'm so glad I had the chance to read it. I can't wait to continue the series. If your a girly girl and love amazing characters this is perfect for you!
