Fracture by Megan Miranda Review
Reading Level: Young Adult
Publisher: Walker Childrens
Source: Conference
First book in the Fracture series
Eleven minutes passed before Delaney Maxwell was pulled from the icy waters of a Maine lake by her best friend Decker Phillips. By then her heart had stopped beating. Her brain had stopped working. She was dead. And yet she somehow defied medical precedent to come back seemingly fine. Everyone wants Delaney to be all right, but she knows she's far from normal. Pulled by strange sensations she can't control or explain, Delaney finds herself drawn to the dying. Is her altered brain now predicting death, or causing it?
Then Delaney meets Troy Varga, who recently emerged from a coma with similar abilities. At first she's reassured to find someone who understands the strangeness of her new existence, but Delaney soon discovers that Troy's motives aren't quite what she thought. Is their gift a miracle, a freak of nature-or something much more frightening?
For fans of best-sellers like Before I Fall and If I Stay, this is a fascinating and heart-rending story about love and friendship and the fine line between life and death.
Review
Wow! This was quite the read. I was so excited for this one. The concept had me insanely curious. I really liked this one. It was so good. The characters were seriously so amazing. The storyline was insanely unique. I thought this was a stand alone but I've heard rumors of a sequel. Those rumors make me very happy.
This one tells the story of Delany. Delany has an accident and ends up trapped under watch for 11 minutes! Somehow she survives thanks to her oh so wonderful bestfriend Decker. Now she has to deal with the aftermath of her accident and try and make her life normal again.
Delany's life had been changed forever after her accident. You would think no one would be able to survive being underwater for 11 minutes. Somehow she did and she had quite the adventure. I really enjoyed Delany. She was a very complex character. You could tell she didn't know what to do with herself. She tried to have a normal life but eventually she came to the conclusion that she wasn't normal anymore. I think what I liked most about Delany was that she never gave up. Even when things were hard. I can't wait to read more about her. I loved Decker with all my heart! He was such an amazing character. I liked the tension between Delany and Decker but I did wish for more cuteness. I hope the sequel has all the cuteness in the world.
It's hard for me to come up with words for the storyline. It was just that unique. I loved that I had no idea where the story was going. I couldn't predict it at all. I was so curious how everything was going to turn out. This was pretty short which is sad. I read it in like five hours and wanted more as soon as I finished it. I loved all the twists. And I adored the characters. Overall I think this was an amazing read. I loved it very much. I can't wait to continue the series. I highly, highly recommend this one.
