Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi Review
Reading Level:Young Adult
Publisher:Harper Collins
First book in Under the Never Sky series
Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse.
Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
Review
This reminded me a lot of Incarnate by Jodi Meadows. Only because of the speed. The worlds are nothing alike but both have similar speeds. This has become a new favorite. I absolutely adore this book. It was so so so good.
I really liked Aria. She was seriously thrown into this other world and managed to make it work. She never gave up. She stayed strong the whole time. She also kinda grew into herself. Plus she has the coolest powers ever. I love Perry. He's amazing. I love how Aria and Perry didn't even like each other at first. They took the time to get to know each other. Then they were adorable. At first they were just stuck with each other. And even though Perry didn't like Aria he still wanted her to be safe. I loved Roar. His personality is so cute and funny. I feel really bad for him. I hope we more of him in future books. And I hope he gets Liv back. He needs a girlfriend.
I absolutely adore the world Veronica created. It's so unique. It's one of the best parts. Along with the amazing characters. The plot is kinda slow in the beginning. It picks up around the middle. I liked the slowness because it gives you a chance to fall in love with the characters. I read this in like five hours so it wasn't boring at all. In fact it's incredibly hard to put down. One thing I didn't like was the confusion in the beginning. I'm not even joking I was really confused for like the first 100 pages. I could have just been reading too fast or some things could have been explained better. Overall I loved this book with all my heart. It was so good. I'm dying for the sequel. The wait is going to be killer. I highly recommend this one. 5/5 stars
