Second book in Possession series
Forbidden love, intoxicating power, and the terror of control…
Raine has always been a good girl. She lives by the rules in Freedom. After all, they are her father’s rules: He’s the Director. It’s because of him that Raine is willing to use her talent—a power so dangerous, no one else is allowed to know about it. Not even her roommate, Vi.
All of that changes when Raine falls for Gunner. Raine’s got every reason in the world to stay away from Gunn, but she just can’t. Especially when she discovers his connection to Vi’s boyfriend, Zenn. Raine has never known anyone as heavily brainwashed as Vi. Raine’s father expects her to spy on Vi and report back to him. But Raine is beginning to wonder what Vi knows that her father is so anxious to keep hidden, and what might happen if she helps Vi remember it. She’s even starting to suspect Vi’s secrets might involve Freedom’s newest prisoner, the rebel Jag Barque....
Review
I'm always a little hesitant starting a book from a new characters point of view. I miss the characters from the first book. Somehow it always turns out well. I fall in love with the new characters. They always leave me curious about who's point of view the third book is going to be from. I wasn't sure about this at first. Of course it was amazing. It starts off kinda slow. It was the same with Possession. I think that's a part of her writing style. I read Possession awhile back and I didn't really remember much. I would suggest rereading the first book before starting this.
I really like Raine. I love how strong she is and her power is awesome. I love how she didn't want to let her father control her. Oh Gunner. He is adorable. He probably had no idea about Raines lifestyle before he was thrown into it. I hated Zenn. He has always bothered me. But he was kinda sweet in this. I feel bad for him. It's like he knows he doesn't have a chance. I hope he finds a girlfriend or something like that. Violet was a little confusing at times. I wasn't really sure how much she remembered. The chokers thing confused me too. I hope that's explained in the next book. Im so glad Jag was a part of this story. For some odd reason I thought he wasn't gonna be in this at all. I really love all these characters. Their all very well done.
The world building seemed a little different in this. It could be because I dont remember Possession. I really like the difference between the two books. The plot was a little slow at times. It didnt bore me though it was buildup to the excitment. Overall I absolutely adored this. It was amazing. I highly recommend this series and I cant wait to see what everyone thinks :). 5/5 stars
