Stealing Parker by Miranda Kennealley Review

Stealing Parker
Reading Level: Young Adult
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
Source: Won
Second book in the Hundred Oaks series
Red-hot author Miranda Kenneally hits one out of the park in this return to Catching Jordan's Hundred Oaks High.
Parker Shelton pretty much has the perfect life. She’s on her way to becoming valedictorian at Hundred Oaks High, she’s made the all-star softball team, and she has plenty of friends. Then her mother’s scandal rocks their small town and suddenly no one will talk to her.
Now Parker wants a new life.
So she quits softball. Drops twenty pounds. And she figures why kiss one guy when she can kiss three? Or four. Why limit herself to high school boys when the majorly cute new baseball coach seems especially flirty?
But how far is too far before she loses herself completely?

Review
I wasn't wowed by Catching Jordan. I expected to feel the same with this one but was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this one!

Parker had it all when she decided she wanted a new life. She quits softball, loses weight, and becomes somewhat the outcast of her school. She's known as easy. The baseball coach is a little too friendly. Parker must decide how far is too far and what kinda person she wants to be.

I had to get used to Parker. She annoyed me at times but at others was great. What annoyed me was that she knew what she was doing was wrong yet she continued to do it. But that's a very real quality and made her seem more relatable. Teacher student relationships are a little creepy. Brian annoyed me so much but was very real. I could see something like that happening in real life. Now Corndog kinda made the book for me. He was such a great guy! I wished he had a bigger role in the story.

I think teacher student relationships make a good story. Yes they do seem a bit weird but still a nice concept. I think this one was pretty well done! I really liked that what happening between Brian and Parker wasn't the only aspect of the story. There was some church, some family, and of course some baseball and softball. The characters were great. I loved getting to see Sam and Jordan again. Overall this one blew my expectations away. It was an amazing read. I cannot wait to continue the series!

  1. Interesting review! I actually like Catching Jordan better, but then I like football much better than baseball. Love, love, love Corndog Will, though! He's dreamier than Sam and Ty, imo. You have to read the 3rd one in the series!
