Top Ten Tuesday (1)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!

Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of us will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All that's asked is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers

So if  you saw our 2012 wrap up post you know that we're starting a couple new meme's this year and Top Ten Tuesday is one of them. We've been wanting to do it for a while and we're so excited about it.

This week it was a little hard to pick so we split it in half. Other weeks we'll swap.

Marissa's list:

  1. Be a better blogger- I completely fell off track in the last bit of 2012. I've been seriously neglecting the blog and have a list of reviews to write. In 2013 I hope I can catch up and be even better than before. Stick with me guys!
  2. Don't stress about numbers- With all the goals and challenges it can be easy to obsess over reading as many books as possible. Especially when I see another blogger reading twice as much as me in half the time. I just need to remember to read because I love it, read what I want, and let myself take breaks sometimes.
  3. Pass my goal- Despite all that I still want to pass my goal (which is 113).
  4. Comment more- I have a ton of blogs that I love to visit but, I don't comment on them. I need to fix this.
  5. Read more classics- I don't usually read for school and I realized that I hardly read any in 2012. I have couple I want to read. Any recommendations?

Jasmine's list:

  1. Read Slower- I read so fast its insane. Then I find myself missing things or forgetting what happened. I really want to try and slow down, and try and pay more attention while reading.
  2. Be more social- I've been doing a lot more commenting lately but I want to do even more. I also don't want to limit what I comment on. Right now it's only on things I've read or I'm excited for. And normally I like smaller blogs more than bigger ones.
  3. Read for the story- With most books all I care about is the cuteness. Instead of paying attention to the story, I pay attention to the characters. So I'm really gonna try and read more for the story and less for the cute.
  4. Try some new stuff- I read mostly paranormal. I really want to try and branch out a little bit. When I do read other things I enjoy it, I just don't typically buy anything other than paranormal
  5. Make it to more events- This year I am so determined to go to Austin Teen Book Festival. I don't care what it takes. I'm gonna be more organized with my crazy life so I can make it to all the events I want to go to. I'm sure having a car and a drivers license will help!

  1. I love these goals, I definitely need to stop obsessing about what other bloggers have read/how fast they've read it. I saw someone on my twitter had read 7 books and was starting their 8th in the time I'd read one and had a 0_0 moment before I caught myself and decided it didn't matter.

Branching out from paranormal...I was SUCH a paranormal fan a few years ago, literally all I read. From one huge fan to another, lemme know if you want any recs, though you're in the right place to find them ;)

  3. You two have such fabulous goals! I love that you're doing this meme, I've been considering about joining TTT for a while, and may have to make the jump...

Anyways, Marissa, I'm excited to see more of your reviews! =) I also always feel like it's a competition about numbers lately, about how many books you can read, and I agree, it's pressure. But it's great that you're deciding to just step back and read for fun.

Jasmine, I love your goals as well! I read WAY too fast sometimes, just to see what happens, and I miss important things as well. I want to learn how to savor the book, and enjoy it in the moment. Also, I want to go to more bookish events too!! Too bad I don't have my license yet. =P

Lovely lists you two! Good luck with your goals. =)
